Lebohang Centre for
Physically And Mentally
Disabled Children
We provide care for mentally and physically disabled children in the Sedibeng region and we ensure that the children are given their appropriate treatment. We strive to achieve rehabilitation of the children to the effect that they are later integrated back into the communities they come from.
About us
BACKGROUND
Lebohang Centre for the mentally and physically disabled children was established and formed in 1986 at the Sebokeng Hostel, by parents who had children living with disabilities. The idea of forming this centre was pioneered by Mr. Makhubu. The centres started off with facilities catering for residential care for 24 children. Needless to say that this room at the hostel did not meet the basic requirements of the Department of Health and it was also very small. Lebohang centre is currently found at stand no 1247 Zone 10 in Sebokeng. This site was donated by the Emfuleni Local Municipality. The following key and strategic partners played a big role in the building of the centres and the facilities found on this site. Department of Public Works, Arcelor Mittal, SAB and National Lotteries.
The centre currently, accommodates 43 children who reside there and has about 15 care-givers, three executive managers and a board of directors constituted by seven members.
